Children In Sport is a program designed to ensure that children receive the most positive experience possible from sport. The focus of the program is on learning the fundamental skills before entering more competitive sports and on providing an opportunity for children to have positive life-long experiences in sport.

The Zone 3 Sports Council is available to provide Children In Sport sessions to parents, coaches and administrators. They are about one hour in length and offered free of charge. If your community or organization is interested in hosting a Children In Sport Presentation, or you would like more information, please call the Zone 3 Office.

“Prevention in Motion” is the name of this session. It will define the different types of abuse – physical, emotional, sexual, and neglect, as well as indicators and effects of children and youth. Participants will gain knowledge about the barriers and benefits to preventing abuse and learn ways to proactively build safer relationships within organizations and communities.

Participants examine how to handle disclosures, the legal reporting requirements and risk management strategies. Other topics include bullying, abuse and harassment in the unique context of sport, recreations and culture. This session is applicable to coaches, instructors, parents and administrators dealing with children and youth in any minor sport, recreation, or culture organization.

This joint effort at enhancing safety for children and youth involves the participation of Sask Sport, SaskCulture and the Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association (SPRA), in collaboration with the Canadian Red Cross, and it's RespectED program, in Saskatchewan.
