handball, lacrosse, etc.

|
If your
community would like to host this type of clinic, please contact

Sport
Camps are normally 5-10 hours in length (depending on
communities needs) and held over 1-2 days, with a minimal
registration fee for participants.
These are for sports that are developed in the community,
but still need some work. The instructor will facilitate
an introduction and the fundamentals of the sport.
|
We require
a local contact to assist with promotion, secure a facility
and take registrations. Zone 3 will work with the Provincial
Sport Governing Body to ensure a certified coach or instructor
is facilitating the camp and will significantly subsidize
cost of the camp! Contact the office for further details.

| Much
like sport camps, these camps are held over 1-2 days,
and are about 7-12 hours in length (again, depending on
the communities needs). They also have a registration
fee for all participants. |
 |
They
will focus on an individual sport but will be very intense,
and are for participants who are already developed in the
sport. These camps focus on specific skills as well as the
mental part of the sport. Zone 3 will work with the Provincial
Sport Governing Body to ensure a certified coach or instructor
is facilitating the camp and will significantly subsidize
cost of the camp! Contact the office for further details.
****
NOTE **** At both Sport Camps and Sport Training Camps all
participants are supplied with lunch (at Zone 3’s expense)
and door prizes and/or t-shirts are given out.

Kidsport
is a children’s charity. It is designed to assist
children of families facing financial obstacles to participate
in community sport programs. The Kidsport goal is to provide
these children with the opportunity to achieve physical,
social, intellectual and moral development through participation
in sport. There is assistance available through the Zone
3 Sports Council and the provincial Kidsport office to
set up. |

| The
Zone 3 “Sport Explosure” Play Program is based
on the Children in Sport philosophy; that children learn
basic motor skills before entering competitive sport.
It is not a typo – the program is so named because
it gives kids a chance to be “exposed” to
some new activities and it is an “explosion”
of fun! This program is designed for children 5-7 years
of age and is games based. There is a template of 8 different
lesson plans (each approximately 45 minutes in length),
which can be done once for 8 weeks or twice a week for
four. |
|
“Sport
Explosure” was piloted in Gull Lake in March, 2004 and
was an overwhelming success, with 34 children participating!
We are currently looking for communities that would like to
host their own program.
What
we need from the community is a dedicated volunteer or two
to help out with local promotion, secure a facility, take
registrations and assist with hiring staff (usually a couple
of local students that will deliver the program). Zone 3 will
provide the lesson plans, necessary training for the staff
and pay the staff wages for the 8 lessons. If you are interested
in bringing this program to your community, please contact
the office!
